Match Recap: NYRB II and FC Tulsa Play to Scoreless Draw at MSU Soccer Park

MONTCLAIR, NJ (June 15, 2022) – New York Red Bulls II (1-11-3, 6 points) and FC Tulsa (4-8-3, 15 points) played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday, June 15, at MSU Soccer Park.

The two sides traded scoring chances throughout the match. In the 18th minute, Sam Williams sent in a shot from outside the box that took a deflection and just narrowly missed to the left side of the net. A few minutes later, Wiki Carmona ripped a shot from the edge of the box that hit the crossbar.

In the 68th minute, Jesús Castellano had a shot ring off the post, and the rebound fell to John Murphy, who had his attempt go high.

Tulsa had one of its better chances of the night a minute later, as Lebo Moloto threaded a pass through to Rodrigo da Costa, who had a one-on-one opportunity right in front of the net. AJ Marcucci made a point blank save to keep the match scoreless.

In the 77th minute, Gabi Torres played a ball in from along the far side of the end line that was headed right in front of the net by Marlon Ramírez. Juan Castillo made a run from across the box to clear the ball out of play right before it crossed the line.

The clean sheet was the second of the season for Marcucci, with the first coming on March 16 at Atlanta United 2. It also marked the fourth of his career.

Following the match, New York will travel to face El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday, June 25, at Southwest University Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
