All-Star Voting Pitch

Major League Soccer will have its 16th All-Star Game on July 28th when the league’s best players go up against English Premier League giants Manchester United at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX. You can vote for who you think should be in the starting XI against the likes of Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and Edwin Van Der Sar by CLICKING HERE. Below, check out some of the top candidates for the All-Star Team from your New York Red Bulls:

Tim Ream: Ream is one of the leading candidates to take home the 2010 award for Rookie of the Year, as he has played with the poise of a seasoned veteran in just his first year in professional soccer. The Saint Louis University product has shown unwavering calm and composure, and has shut down top strikers throughout the league week after week. Ream is one of the main reasons the Red Bulls have kept four clean sheets this season.

Joel Lindpere:
Lindpere has been a welcome addition to the Red Bulls in 2010. The Estonian has been the midfield general for the Red Bulls, creating plays for the attack as well as disrupting the opponent’s rhythm. Lindpere owns the distinction of scoring the first ever goal in Red Bull Arena; twice in fact. Lindpere scored in the Arena’s Grand Opening against Santos FC, and also scored the lone goal in the Red Bulls’ 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire on May 27, the first MLS match at Red Bull Arena. Lindpere is the club’s assist leader thus far in 2010, with three.

Juan Pablo Angel:
In his fourth season with the franchise, the captain of the Red Bulls is still as dangerous as ever. After withstanding a leg injury in preseason, Angel caught fire starting on April 17th against FC Dallas, when he struck twice, including a penalty kick in second half stoppage time. He scored the match winner from the penalty spot on April 24th against the Philadelphia Union, and added another goal a week later against D.C. United. Angel scored one of the most dramatic goals in club history on June 2, when his 30+ yard free kick in the 94th minute defeated the Houston Dynamo. Angel is tied for third in goals in MLS in 2010, with six. The two-time MLS All Star, who was named the 2007 MLS All Star Game’s Most Valuable Player, remains among the elite players in Major League Soccer.
