Agudelo's first MLS strike wins AT&T Goal of the Week

New York Red Bulls teenager Juan Agudelo’s first MLS goal has won the AT&T Goal of the Week for the opening week of the MLS season.


The match-winning strike in RBNY’s 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders earned 33.04% of the fan vote, besting the Colorado Rapids’ Jamie Smith, whose long-range bomb garnered 27.59% of the vote.


Agudelo’s goal came in the 70th minute of a scoreless game at Red Bull Arena. He ran onto a long ball, overpowered a Sounders’ defender and slammed his shot past a helpless Kasey Keller in the Seattle goal.
