The New York Red Bulls reserves fell to the Columbus reserves by the final of 2-1 Saturday evening. Defender Tyler Ruthven scored his second goal in as many games in the final minutes of the match for New York’s lone goal.

Scoring came late in this one, as neither team failed to light the scoreboard until the 70th minute when Columbus’ Aaron Schoenfeld headed home a Nemanja Vukovic free kick to give the Crew a 1-0 lead. They’d tally a second 17 minutes later when Justin Meram buried one in the 87th minute.

As time about expired, Ruthven sent home a cross from Jose Angulo to crack the Crew’s shutout attempt and secure the Red Bulls’ only goal of the match.
