Tim Cahill Scores in Australia's 3-0 Win Over Lebanon

Watch: Australia vs. Lebanon Highlights

Despite a short break in New York's schedule, Tim Cahill is among four Red Bulls hard at work with their national teams in matches for various international competitions. For Cahill and his Australian teammates, the competition began yesterday as the Socceroos played an international friendly at Lebanon, in preparation for next Tuesday’s World Cup Qualifier at Jordan. If Cahill and Australia’s performance on Thursday is any indication, the squad is in good shape going forward.

Cahill notched his 25th international goal, opening the scoring on a signature header in the 20th minute as Australia went on to shutout Lebanon, 3-0. With the goal, his 25th all-time, Cahill now stands just four goals behind Damian Mori, who owns Australia’s all-time international scoring record with 29.

Roy Miller (Costa Rica) and Joel Lindpere (Estonia) are also trying to help their teams reach the 2014 World Cup. Today, Estonia hosts Romania and travels to take on Turkey on Tuesday. Costa Rica has a tough task ahead of them in CONCACAF, playing a home-and-home with Mexico beginning today in San Jose, Costa Rica and wrapping up in Mexico City Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Bill Gaudette is with the Puerto Rican National Team as they battle in the 2012 Caribbean Championships. Puerto Rico will play three matches in Group A in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, beginning today with a match against Bermuda. On Sept. 9, the squad will face St. Martin before finishing up against the hosts, Haiti, on Sept. 11.

Be sure to check back next week as we’ll recap this weekend’s international action and look forward to Tuesday’s matches.
