Jamison Olave Named to MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week

The praise of Jamison Olave's play against the LA Galaxy just keeps rolling in, as his inclusion on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week marks another item to include on his growing list of highlights.

Olave was a physical presence on New York's back line that helped earn a clean sheet in the Red Bulls' 1-0 win over the Galaxy this past Sunday. His end-to-end hustle paid off in the form of blocked shots, intercepted passes, and take downs that kept Galaxy players off the mark and out of areas for peak scoring chances throughout the match.

Red Bulls Head Coach Mike Petke summed up Olave's performance nicely during Sunday's postgame.

“The biggest reason we brought him in here was for what he’s been doing,” Petke said. “We don’t expect him to be the point man, to be honest with you. The way he hunts the ball, the way he reads the game, his catch-up speed is unbelievable, and he’s a guy who makes the difference.

Last week, fellow Red Bulls defender Markus Holgersson received a similar honor for his play against the New England Revolution that amounted to a 1-1 draw and maintained New York's unbeaten streak. Olave's presence in the MLSsoccer.com lineup marks the sixth straight week a Red Bulls player has been included.
