ABOUT THE MATCH

New York earned its first seven-game unbeaten run since 2003 when it came back to tie the Columbus Crew, 2-2, on a 91st minute Jamison Olave goal Sunday afternoon at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls now have 25 points, a 7-4-4 record and a two-point lead over the second place Montreal Impact. Thierry Henry also found the back of the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

The Red Bulls will host Whitecaps FC on Saturday before having a 22-day break from MLS play. Vancouver is currently in eighth place in the Western Conference with 13 points off a 3-4-4 record. Whitecaps FC was on bye last weekend and their last match was on May 18 when it tied the Portland Timbers, 2-2, at BC Place. Vancouver tied the Impact on Wednesday evening, 2-2, at BC Place in the second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship final Wednesday evening. However, it did not win the Voyageurs Cup due to the away goals rule. Forward Camilo Sanvezzo currently leads Whitecaps FC with three goals.

Since Vancouver joined MLS in 2011, the Red Bulls and Whitecaps FC have tied 1-1 in all three games that they have played against each other. Last year, the Red Bulls earned a 1-1 tie at BC Place on June 20, equalizing on a late Heath Pearce goal. New York recorded a 1-1 draw on Sept. 10, 2011 in Vancouver’s only visit to Red Bull Arena.
