HARRISON, NJ (August 28, 2014) – New York Red Bulls midfielder Bobby Convey underwent successful surgery to repair a deviated septum at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Christopher Shaari. Convey is expected to be missing from training for 3-5 weeks while recovering.

Convey has made 13 appearances (nine starts) for the Red Bulls this season and made an appearance in New York’s U.S. Open Cup game on June 14.

Now in his 12th season in MLS, Convey has made 217 career appearances with D.C. United, the San Jose Earthquakes, Sporting Kansas City, Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls. Convey is three starts shy of 200 for his career and has scored 13 goals while recording 36 assists.

Convey was signed by New York after his rights were traded from Toronto FC on December 13, 2013 in a deal that included a swap of 2014 draft picks and the Red Bulls sending a 2015 draft pick to Toronto.
