The New York Red Bulls host the Montreal Impact this Wednesday at Red Bull Arena for the final CONCACAF Champions League group stage match of 2014. The Red Bulls were eliminated from the competition with a 0-0 draw at CD FAS.

Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke on the upcoming game against Montreal:

“Tomorrow’s game is going to be an opportunity game. For all the players who have not had much playing time, and all the players who…we’re going to have to make decisions on come the end of the year. We did that when we went up to Montreal for the most part…the fact of the matter is we’re out of the Champions League. We just played a couple days ago and we have a huge game in Kansas City this weekend. It’s going to be our players, like I said, who have not had much minutes this year.”

New York is in second place of group 3, behind Montreal and in front of CD FAS. They are 1-1-1 through their three CONCACAF Champions League games, with Saer Sene and Lloyd Sam scoring their two goals in the competition. They won their only Champions League home match against CD FAS 2-0.

Montreal enter the match having clinched a spot in the Quarterfinals. They are 3-0-0 in the competition and have relied heavily on the production of retiring forward Marco Di Vaio. Di Vaio has scored four goals in Montreal’s three matches and is credited with the game winner in each game.
