The Red Bulls defeated Bethesda-Olney 4-1 behind another stellar game from Red Bulls captain Derrick Etienne, who recorded his third consecutive game with three assists. The U-18s opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Etienne whipped in a free kick that found Gideon Metrikin, who redirected it into the goal from close range. In the 23rd minute, another Etienne free kick found forward Juan Sebastian Sanchez for his sixth goal of the season. Etienne completed the hat-trick of assists in the 36th minute when he played a wide pass to forward Wes Wade, who received the ball inside the corner of the penalty box and then blasted into the lower left hand corner of the net. Etienne completed the scoring for the Red Bulls in the 88th minute when his free kick from 25 yards took a slight deflection and ended up in the top left corner of the goal. Bethesda prevented the Red Bulls from getting the shutout with a goal in the 92nd minute.

“We were happy with our mentality and approach to the game today,” said U-18 coach Paul O’Donnell. “We were very focused on getting a good start to the game and limiting the chances that Bethesda was able to create. It was unfortunate that we gave up the goal at the end of the game but we are still pleased with the performance and now will prepare for Philadelphia Union next week.”
