EDISON, NJ – New York Red Bulls General Manager Marc de Grandpre, along with Director of Training Programs Dave Jervis and other members of the Red Bulls staff, attended the 27th annual New Jersey Youth Soccer Awards Dinner earlier this month in Edison. The dinner, which presents awards to players, coaches, and volunteers, was attended by almost 500 people, including NJYS teams, coaches, referees, volunteers and their families.
New Jersey Youth Soccer and the Red Bulls have worked side by side for a number of years, and are in the second year of a formal partnership in which the Red Bulls provides professional, certified youth coaches to work with NJYS sponsored teams and programs.
“NJ Youth Soccer provides a platform for more than 150,000 children to play soccer in urban, suburban and rural locations throughout our state,” said Roy Squillario, president of NJ Youth Soccer.
“As an NJ Youth Soccer partner, we were honored to attend the NJYS Awards Dinner, which does a fantastic job of bringing together the youth soccer community," said Jervis. “The dinner provides a great opportunity to recognize the great players in our state, as well as the volunteers who invest hundreds of hours in running youth programs. As a community-focused organization the Red Bulls are proud to be involved in such a positive grassroots event.”
The evening acknowledged many of the state’s boys and girls U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship Series (NCS) and State Cup team champions as well as players selected for the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Olympic Development Program pool team.
