The New York Red Bulls have announced additions to their preseason roster ahead of the club’s second preseason trip to Florida. The team departed Monday morning for Sarasota, where they will train in Bradenton and compete in the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic tournament.
Amongst a group of new trialists is a familiar face, as former Red Bulls winger Dane Richards joins the team in Sarasota as an unsigned player. In addition to Richards, four defenders will also be on trial in camp – Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Canadian international Karl Ouimette, Jamaican international Kemar Lawrence, and Anthony Wallace, who appeared as a guest player during a preseason scrimmage against Jacksonville Armada FC in Orlando.
Richards was drafted by New York in the second round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. He established himself as a force on the wing, and made 147 appearances for the club from 2007 to 2012, scoring 21 goals and 21 assists in MLS competition.
Hurtado joins the Red Bulls in camp after spending 2014 with both Chicago and Chivas USA. The 30-year-old Colombian put himself on the MLS map in five seasons with the Seattle Sounders, where he made 108 league appearances and was a part of Seattle’s three straight U.S. Open Cups from 2009 to 2011.
