“I am glad I had the chance to come onto the field and have an impact on the game. It was a physical match against a team fighting for three points. We didn’t perform at our best level but we came out with the win which is important this late in the season,” Marin said. “Now we just have to focus on tomorrow’s game against an opponent who has always been a tough rival.”

All the goals were scored in the second half. The first goal came from Saramago, who converted a Sean Teixeria cross from the right side to give the Red Bulls the lead in 48th Minute.

D.C. United was then denied an equalizer shortly after when Xavier Kennedy made an excellent save from a header that appeared goal bound after a D.C. United corner. The Red Bulls U-16s would then counter from the following D.C. United corner to extend their lead. The goal came in the 60th minute when Mason Deeds played the ball over the D.C. United backline for Saramago to run clear and beat the goalkeeper.
