The New York Red Bulls (4-1-5) are set to host the Philadelphia Union (2-7-3) at Red Bull Arena this Sunday, with kickoff slated for 5 p.m. This will be the first of three meetings between the teams this season.  The two will meet in Philly on August 1 before a return match at RBA on October 18.  The Red Bulls will seek to return to the win column after drawing vs. FC Dallas last Friday, while Philadelphia enters with momentum after defeating first-place DC United 1-0 over the weekend.

Here are some numbers to know ahead of Sunday’s matchup.


1: The Red Bulls have been shutout just once this season.  Their scoreless affair came in their most recent game vs. FC Dallas.  Neither team was able to score in the game.


3: The Union have used three goalkeepers this year.  Rais Mbohli started the first five games, followed by John McCarthy. Brian Sylvestre bounced back from outing in Vancouver to earn the win last weekend. 


10: Coach Jesse Marsch has reached the 10-game mark as Red Bulls’ head coach.  He’s 4-1-5 with the sole loss coming against New England Revolution. With 17 points, he’s tied mentor Bob Bradley for the best 10-game start to a tenure in franchise history. Bradley went 5-3-2 in his first 10 games in New York.


13: New York and Philadelphia have faced each other 13 times.  The Red Bulls hold the upper hand in the teams’ history with a 7-4-2 record, including a 5-0-1 record at Red Bull Arena.


21: Philadelphia’s 21 goals allowed are an MLS high this season.  The Union have a   -10 goal differential through 12 matches.


36: Luis Robles has earned 36 wins in 82 games played for the Red Bulls. With his next victory the shot stopper will move into a tie with Tim Howard for second-most wins by a goalkeeper in franchise history. Howard recorded 37 wins in 85 games played, while overall leader Tony Meola (who is part of the broadcast team for Fox Sports 1) racked up 48 wins in 125 games played. Robles is also the overall leader in winning percentage (.591).
