New York Red Bulls Waive Mael Corboz

HARRISON, N.J. (February 29, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls have waived midfielder Mael Corboz, the club announced today.

Corboz was signed to a Homegrown contract in December after completing his college career with two standout seasons at the University of Maryland. The Green Brook, N.J., native has been with New York during both preseason camps in Orlando.

As a senior, Corboz led the Big Ten with 12 assists, tied for fifth-most in the nation. He was named to the First Team All-Big Ten after both seasons. Corboz played his first two collegiate seasons at Rutgers University before transferring to Maryland. He was also part of the Red Bullsā€™ U-23 team that captured the NPSL title in 2014, and recorded five goals and an assist in nine appearances in 2015 in the PDL.

The New York Red Bulls open the 2016 MLS season on Sunday, March 6, when Toronto FC visits Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m., with English and Spanish coverage on MSG, MSG GO, and the Red Bulls Radio Network.
