New York Red Bulls II will welcome Bethlehem Steel FC to Red Bull Arena on Sunday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Red Bulls II aims to extend its unbeaten streak to three games after an opening day draw and a win on the road against Louisville City FC last weekend.
Coverage on NewYorkRedBulls.com/Live will begin at 7:28 p.m. with David Gass and Kristian Dyer on the call.
This weekend’s match will be the first regular season meeting between Red Bulls II and USL expansion side Bethlehem Steel. In preseason, NYRB II hosted Bethlehem at the Red Bulls Training Facility for a friendly. Noah Powder scored for New York, only to be answered by Eric Ayuk and the game finished in a draw, 1-1.
NYRB II won its first game of the season last weekend on the road against Louisville City FC, 2-0. With a 1-0-1 record and a +2 goal differential, NYRB II concluded USL week two in first place of the Eastern Conference on goal differential.
Brandon Allen scored his third goal of the season against Louisville. He is tied with LA Galaxy II’s Jack McBean as USL’s top scorer.
Junior Flemmings recorded one goal and an assist at Louisville Slugger Stadium in his first game with NYRB II. He is the first Red Bulls II player in history to score and earn an assist in a debut.
Dan Metzger played his first game since undergoing season-ending knee surgery in July 2015 last Saturday in Louisville. The former U.S. U-23 midfielder started and played 66 minutes.
Sunday could also mean the debut for new signing Cheikh M’Baye, who signed with the club on Friday, April 8. M’Baye, a native of Saint-Louis, Senegal, signed after training with the first team and NYRB II as a preseason trialist.
Vincent Bezecourt, who made his first start for NYRB II last weekend, picked up a knee injury against Louisville and will not be available for Sunday’s match. He is expected to miss 2-3 months.
Bethlehem Steel FC enters the match with a 1-1-0 record, after a loss last weekend against FC Cincinnati, 2-1. Former NYRB II player Bolu Akinyode will serve a one-game suspension this weekend after receiving a red card in last weekend’s match.
