New York Red Bulls Waive Defender Zach Carroll

HARRISON, N.J. (May 5, 2016) – The New York Red Bulls have waived center back Zach Carroll, the club announced today. Carroll was selected by New York in the second round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, 38th overall, and signed to an MLS contract on March 3. 


Carroll, a native of Grand Blanc, Mich., spent two seasons at Virginia before transferring to Michigan State ahead of his junior year. He played 39 games for the Spartans, starting 38, and recorded seven goals and four assists over his junior and senior seasons. He earned First Team All-Big Ten honors and was named to the NSCAA Second Team All-Midwest Region as a senior.  


This season, Carroll made five appearances on loan to New York Red Bulls II in the United Soccer League​.


The New York Red Bulls are in action tomorrow night, Friday May 6, taking on Orlando City SC at Camping World Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with coverage on UniMas, and English and Spanish play-by-play on Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.
