Karl Ouimette Called into Canadian National Team

HARRISON, N.J. (May 29, 2016) – New York Red Bulls center back Karl Ouimette has been named to the Canadian National Team Roster for a pair of upcoming friendlies as the team prepares for the next round of FIFA 2018 World Cup Russia Qualification.

Canada will take on Azerbaijan on Friday, June 3 at Stadion Rohrbach an der Lafnitz in Rohrbach an der Lafnitz, Austria. The second friendly match against Uzbekistan will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at Thermenstadion Bad Waltersdorf in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria.

Ouimette, a native of Repentigny, Quebec, outside of Montreal, has been a regular with Canada over the last two years. The defender has made 14 appearances for his nation since getting his first cap in 2013. Ouimette was most recently called in for a pair of qualifiers against Mexico in March.

Ouimette has made 18 appearances for the Red Bulls since joining the team ahead of the 2015 season, including seven appearances this season.
