  • The New York Red Bulls defeated New York City FC, 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Red Bull Arena behind two goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips and a goal and two assists from Sacha Kljestan. The Red Bulls won the season series, 2-1, and have taken five of the six all-time meetings against New York City FC.
  • The Red Bulls are 9-9-4 on the season, and 8-1-2 at home. With the win the Red Bulls jump over Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference Standings and now sit in second, two points behind NYC FC. New York is tied for most wins in the Eastern Conference.
  • The Red Bulls are 5-1-0 all-time against the NYC FC, including a 3-0-0 mark at Red Bull Arena.
  • The Red Bulls have outscored New York City FC 18-5 in the series.
  • With four goals on the day, the Red Bulls now lead the league in goals scored, with 36.
  • Bradley Wright-Phillips opened the scoring in the 20th minute, taking a pass from Sacha Kljestan and slotting a shot by Josh Saunders and inside the far right post. Felipe set up Kljestan with a header into the path of his run.
  • BWP also got the fourth of the contest in the 71st minute, outrunning NYC’s Ethan White to a ball played forward off the head of Alex Muyl and taking two touches to ‘round Saunders and depositing the ball in the back of the net.
  • Ronald Zubar got his second of the season in the 23rd minute, freeing himself on a corner kick and heading home a corner kick from Kljestan. New York has seven goals this season off corners.
