The New York Red Bulls are looking for the "best player available" at the MLS Combine this week.
Red Bulls Assistant Coach Denis Hamlett said that with the No. 17 pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, New York is "looking to see who will be the best available player and who kind of makes sense getting him into our team -- and see where fits, with the USL team or the first team."
Hamlett spoke to Matt Harmon in a Facebook Live video on the New York Red Bulls' Facebook page, and spoke about the front office staff in California, evaluating the Combine games and any chatter about moving in the draft.
The assistant coach said that teams have checked in with the Red Bulls about the availability of some of the players and the team is doing "what we think is best for us."
"That’s the exciting part of it," Hamlett said. "It’s always something."
