“Be ready for a big game.”
That’s the message Head Coach Jesse Marsch wants to send to his team as they head into the first game of the 2017 MLS season, facing off against expansion-side Atlanta United FC in front of a sold-out crowd on Sunday night.
“They know it’s going to be a sold out arena,” Marsch said. “They know the excitement that Atlanta -- the city, the team, the club -- has around this game. But our job is to go out and do what we always do: put the game on our terms, make them uncomfortable and play with energy.”
Marsch guides the New York Red Bulls into his third season at the helm and will look to rebound from their last game in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The head coach said the team came to terms on some things they need to improve on from their last series.
“I think that this group is really prepared to start the season and really prepared to go after this,” he said.
“We’re ready to go."
