An own goal late in the first half helped lift the New York Red Bulls to a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids at a chilly Red Bull Arena Saturday afternoon.
If not for veteran goalkeeper Tim Howard, the Red Bulls would have had a larger halftime lead. He denied Bradley Wright-Phillips several times, coming off his line to make a point-blank save in the 23rd minute for his best stop.

- TWO-FOR-TWO: It wasn’t pretty, but the Red Bulls have a perfect six points from its first two matches after being knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions League by the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Red Bulls are the first in MLS to six points ahead of tonight’s matches.
CLEAN SHEET: Unlike Week 1, when the Red Bulls had to rally from a deficit to beat Atlanta United, the Red Bulls were stout defensively with goalkeeper Luis Robles needing to make just one save to earn the clean sheet.
TIM TERRIFIC: His team didn’t win, but Howard’s performance was a bright spot not only for the Rapids, but especially for the U.S. National Team. The veteran, back from a groin injury, was sprite and made seven saves in his return.
