The New York Red Bulls know that with Real Salt Lake recently firing their head coach, players will come out on Saturday looking to prove themselves.

“If I was on that team, I’d probably want to impress the new manager,” forward Bradley Wright-Phillps said on Thursday. “We expect the best version of Salt Lake.”

Felipe said that he expects to see a different approach out of Salt Lake this week, since they will be working with a new interim head coach in Daryl Shore.

“Because of the new coach, there’s a lot that these players have to prove and I think they’re going to use this game for exactly that,” Luis Robles said.

First Assistant Chris Armas ran training on Wednesday and Thursday in Head Coach Jesse Marsch’s stead.

The New York Red Bulls players had nothing but good things to say about Armas’ training days.

“He’s been brilliant,” forward Bradley Wright-Phillips said. “He’s put on some good sessions. He’s very positive. He’s there to just brighten up things. It’s a nice little change.”

Midfielder Felipe said that Armas always speaks from the heart and brings a lot of energy to practices.

“We are lucky that we have a fantastic staff here,” Felipe said. “We have everything we need to make us better players.”
