USL Match Preview: Playoff Seeding on the Line in Rochester

HARRISON, N.J. (October 13, 2017) - With a playoff spot now locked up, New York Red Bulls II (13-13-5, 44 points) head to Rochester, NY to face the Rochester Rhinos (12-7-11, 50 points), Saturday at Capelli Sport Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m. and can be seen live via the USL Match Center.

Currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, NYRB II will look to maintain their highest playoff seeding (6th) and continue momentum into their first road playoff game since 2015. NYRB II were the top overall seed in 2016, seeing them host all their playoff matches at Red Bull Arena en route to winning the USL Cup Final.

Saturday’s match will be the third meeting of 2017 between the two sides with NYRB II drawing the first in Rochester and defeating them in August at MSU Soccer Park. The 2-1 win in August was NYRB II’s first regular season win in regulation against the Rhinos in their short history.

New York enters the match riding high on an offensive wave scoring six goals at Orlando City B in their most recent match.

Rochester has given up just 27 goals in 31 matches this season and have a chance to host a home playoff match with a win. New York has never defeated Rochester away from home.

Florian Valot comes into the match on fire scoring seven goals in his last eight games. Stefano Bonomo, reigning USL Player of the Week, is also playing well in the attacking end, scoring four goals in his last two matches.

Following Saturday’s match, NYRB II’s eyeballs will be on the scoreboard to see where the top three seeds fall. NYRB II will face either Louisville, Charleston, Charlotte or Tampa Bay in the USL Playoffs.
