The 2nd Annual Vocational Day at Red Bull Arena presented by Southern New Hampshire University took place on Thursday, November 9. Over 70 underserved individuals from nine homeless shelters throughout New York City took part in the educational program to continue working towards their career goals.
Professional workshops hosted by SNHU and Red Bulls staff members took place throughout the afternoon focusing on subjects including resume building, mock job interviews, multimedia/video education, LinkedIn training, sales/marketing workshops and more. In addition, complimentary professional attire, including men's and women's suits, were donated to people who took part in the program.
"Southern New Hampshire University is thrilled to be partnering with the Red Bulls on our second Vocational Day event", said Steve Thiel, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, Southern New Hampshire University. "We hope that the workshops focusing on resume building, mock interviews, professional social media and the other career oriented skills learned today will benefit these men and women in both their immediate and long-term careers."
As the result of a highly successful inaugural Vocational Day in 2016, several individuals that took part in the program were hired by the New York Red Bulls in various departments with the club. Security company Securitas was also on-site at Red Bull Arena holding interviews for job openings at the venue.
"Our entire organization is extremely proud to partner with the Southern New Hampshire University family to hopefully make a significant difference in the lives of these people and their families," said Joe Stetson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, New York Red Bulls. "Over 70 people were in attendance to take part in important professional workshops that included resume building, mock job interviews, multimedia/video education, LinkedIn training, sales/marketing workshops and more. Following last year's inaugural Vocational Day, our club hired multiple participants that took part in the workshops and they have been tremendous assets to our organization. We look forward to having similar success stories and continuing to help our community achieve their career goals."
Southern New Hampshire University is the official education partner of the New York Red Bulls. Tyler Adams, Red Bulls midfielder currently with the United States Men's National Team, is taking courses with Southern New Hampshire University as he pursues a degree.
