The New York Red Bulls signed defender Kevin Politz to a Homegrown contract on January 3, 2018. Politz becomes the 18th Homegrown signing in club history.
The 21-year old hails from Morganville, N.J. and recently finished an illustrious four-year career at Wake Forest seeing him appear in 71 games for the Demon Deacons while anchoring a top-five defense collegiately.
He finished his collegiate career by being named an All-American by the United Soccer Coaches and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year while leading the team to the NCAA Quarterfinals. He anchored a backline that lead the ACC with 10 shutouts and 0.56 goals-against in 2017.
Politz joined the Red Bulls Academy in August of 2010 and won U.S. Soccer Academy National Championships in both 2012 and 2013.
Over the past two summers Politz has also appeared in 20 games total for the New York Red Bulls PDL side, helping the U-23s to a plus-40 goal differential over that span.
