Red Bulls II played their first six home games at Red Bull Arena due to renovations at MSU Soccer Park on the campus of Montclair State University. The construction yielded expanded seating and an upgraded playing surface.
The upcoming game against Charlotte will be New York’s first appearance of 2018 on their home of the future.
Coach Wolyniec says the team is excited to be back at MSU and that “it’s always nice for us to have our own home and a place that could be ours.”
Opportunity To Bounce Back
On June 2nd, NYRB II faced their first home defeat of the season against FC Cincinnati. Prior to that match, the team was 4-0-1 at home.
This weekend the squad will look to expand on their record of home field wins after going 10-6 at MSU in 2017.
Revenge on the Mind
Charlotte took home the win in both matches against NYRB II last season. Red Bulls II lost 5-1 on the road and 3-2 at home.
This Saturday the team seeks revenge, especially being their first game of the season at MSU.
Appearance In The Open Cup
Of the starting XI in the Red Bulls Open Cup game vs. NYCFC, eight of the starters have played or currently play for RB II. Players like Ethan Kutler and Hassan Ndam, who had his MLS debut, had the opportunity to compete with the first team.
The Open Cup game gave some RB II members the chance to gain more experience, especially facing players like David Villa.
Red Bulls II is the only USL team selling merchandise made by Mitchell & Ness. These tees, hats, and scarves will be sold exclusively at MSU Soccer Park.
