Florian Valot and Kyle Duncan

After great individual performances that contributed to the New York Red Bulls’ 3-2 win over FC Cincinnati in Week 1, Florian Valot and Kyle Duncan featured in the Team of the Week.

Duncan, who had one goal and two assists in 1,080 minutes last season, tallied one goal and two assists in 90 minutes.

Valot tallied two assists in his first game back since March 16, 2019 to raise his career total to eight. It was Valot’s second two-assist performance and first since March 31, 2018 at Orlando City SC.

“It looks like he’s a forward because he always manages to find the right space in that area,” said Kaku after Duncan’s one goal, two-assist performance. “I’m happy for Kyle because he deserves it, and we hope that he can continue scoring goals because that’s important."

The French midfielder, who picked off from his great preseason form, thinks that Sunday’s performance was an “end product of the preseason.”

“I think it’s the end product of the preseason,” he said. “We worked really well, we have a cohesive group, we’re all together, and I think we saw it today [Sunday]. It was a team performance, so I’m happy to get a win.”
