Fábio Appreciates Welcome from His Teammates

Fábio

The New York Red Bulls’ new Brazilian striker is excited for the upcoming season and is very happy after the warm welcome he’s received from his teammates and coaching staff.

“I felt very good, I had a sensational welcome when I got here, I got welcomed as if I was family,” said Fábio. “So, I’m very happy to finally be part of this Red Bull family.”

For now Fábio’s main objective is to adapt to Gerhard Struber’s style of play, but he believes that will go smoothly as he also likes to high-press.

“My first objective is to adapt to the coach’s style of play because he likes to play with pressing, and I like it too,” he said. “You have to be tactical and be a center-forward that’s not always in one place. I’m very happy that the coach gave me a nice and positive welcome.”

The 23-year-old striker already played in Japan and looks forward on growing and learning from his time in the MLS.

“It’s different, totally different, in Japan, everything is very fast, and they’re also very technical,” said Fábio. “Over here, there’s also a lot of technique, lots of force, so I’m adapting each and every day, I’m adapting to soccer in the United States.”
