RDS GK Wars is our take on the classic game of “Goalie Wars”, where goalkeepers compete 1v1 and try to score as many goals as possible while simultaneously defending their own goal. The RDS GK Wars uses this classic game but puts it into a competitive tournament format.

In addition to the competitive tournament format the RDS Goalkeeper Wars is special in that it is an identification event for the teams in our player development pathway. Players that participate in the RDS GK Wars can be identified and selected for our Academy teams, Pre-Academy Teams, and RDS Showcase Teams. New York Red Bull Academy Coaches, Pre-Academy Coaches, Showcase Coaches, and New York Red Bull Scouts will all be in attendance of this event.

Key Details:

  • Awards given to champions/top performers
  • All players earn candidacy for the RDS showcase teams
  • Top talents will be given the opportunity to train with or try-out for Red Bull’s Academy, Pre-Academy, and/or RDS Showcase teams.

RDS Goalkeeper Program General Information

RDS goalkeeper programs are reserved for competitive and elite boys and girls looking to receive advanced individual instruction on some of the more complex aspects of the GK position.

With many RDS locations now offering a goalkeeper-specific curriculum, high-level goalkeepers are able to focus on the position specific aspects of their game, such as footwork, handling, shot-stopping, distribution, positioning, and communication.

Typically featuring a lower than 1:8 coaching ratio, RDS provides goalkeepers with the optimum individual attention needed to fine-tune their game and increase their confidence in the position.

Due to the exclusive nature of this position, the goalkeeper curriculum is only available at select RDS locations, and attendance is strictly subject to acceptance at a try-out.

All players receive a comprehensive end-of-season evaluation, and the highest level players from within the RDS will be selected to represent the showcase tournament teams and Academy teams
