McCarty was acquired by the Red Bulls from D.C. United earlier this year. The 24-year-old midfielder has a wealth of experience in Major League Soccer, having played in over 100 matches already in his young career.

PROFESSIONAL:

2010: Appeared in 21 games for MLS Cup finalist FC Dallas, starting 18, while scoring two goals and adding one assist. He was selected in the 2010 expansion draft by the Portland Timbers, but was subsequently dealt to D.C. United prior to the 2011 season.

2009: Appeared in 28 games, making 27 starts… Scored a career-best three goals and recorded six assists as the most consistent player in the lineup during an up-and-down season.

2008: Registered two assists in 17 games played (eight starts)…Made appearances in the attacking midfield role and both the left and right sides of the midfield…Missed five regular season games after undergoing sports hernia surgery in Germany on May 15…Started four of five Reserve Division games.

2007: Made first career MLS start on 4/12 in 2-1 win at LA…Scored first MLS career goal on 9/23 at LA, a 2-1 loss (it was his 23rd career game)…Led FCD with seven regular season assists…Had nine assists in all competitions, of which six came on set pieces (corner kicks or free kicks): Moor (FC - 6/9), Thompson (CK - 7/31), Moor (FC - 8/4), Goodson (CK -8/7), Goodson (CK - 8/11), and Ruiz (FC - 9/15)… Earned first career MLS assist on Ramon Nunez’ first goal in 3-1 win over COL on 4/22…Notched the game-winning assist on Drew Moor’s header off a free kick in 1-0 victory over COL on 8/4…Assisted on two Clarence Goodson headers: in USOC Quarterfinal win vs. Charleston on 8/7 and game-winner vs. CLB on 8/11…Missed five games in all competitions while with the U.S. U-20 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada, where he appeared in all five games for the U.S. as a substitute…On the 18-man day of game roster for the 32 games in which he was with the team, appearing in 29.

2006: Made MLS debut on 7/1 @ CHV, replacing Ronnie O’Brien in the 85th minute of 3-0 loss at The Home Depot Center…made debut on 18-man squad on 6/28 @ NE…Started all eight Reserve Division games in which he appeared, scoring three goals, two of which were game-winners, and two assists to tie for the team lead…Collected an assist on FCD’s second goal in the 2-0 win vs. Tigres in the Rio Grande Plate on 7/19…missed five FCD games during the year while with the U-20 national team.

COLLEGIATE/CLUB:

As a sophomore in 2005, led UNC with eight assists and was named NSCAA second team All-America and First team All-ACC. As a freshman, layed in 21 games in the midfield and made five starts…First collegiate goal came in just his second game, a 2-1 win over Ohio State on Sept. 5 (current FCD teammate Ray Burse was the backup keeper that day for OSU)…Had an assist against Florida International and added a goal and an assist against VCU en route to all-tournament honors at the Carolina Nike Classic.

INTERNATIONAL:

2010: Called into the U.S. Men’s National team January camp in preparation for the friendly versus Honduras on Jan. 23, entered in the 77th minute for Benny Feilhaber….Called into the February camp in preparation for the friendly versus El Salvador on Feb. 24 in Tampa, Fla.

2009: Earned his first cap with the U.S. Men’s National team, appearing in a friendly at Slovakia on Nov. 14 before earning his second cap four days later against Denmark.

2008: Was a member U.S. Men’s Olympic Team that participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and appeared in the team’s final match versus Nigeria….Played a key role in helping the U.S. U-23 team earn a berth in the 2008 Olympics, starting and playing the full 90 in three of the four games in which he appeared…was named to the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying All-Tournament Team Best XI.

2007: Appeared in all five games for the U.S. in the FIFA U-20 World Cup as a substitute…Was called into a U.S. U-23 camp in December.

2006: Regular member of the U.S. U-20’s, leading the team in scoring and often serving as its captain…joined the team for camp in Argentina (April 18-28), playing three games and scored once against two club teams and the Argentine U-20 Team…was called into for the 2006 Milk Cup in Northern Ireland (July 27-Aug. 4), starting all three games and scoring one goal in the 3-0 win over Wales…was called in for the Busan International U-20 Four Nations Tournament from Aug. 25 to Sept. 2 and played all three games at the tournament, scoring against ARG… a member of the U.S. U-15, U-16, U-18 National Team (2001-02, 2005)…Man of the Match Award against Brazil at a U-17 tournament in 2003 in England.

PERSONAL:
