Marius Obekop enters his first season with the Red Bulls and in Major League Soccer after signing with the Red Bulls on Mar. 18. The pacey winger provides a left-footed shot to the offense and an agile and assertive nature on defense. He’s known not only for his ability to finish, but also for facilitating crosses into the box and placing accurate passes to the foot of his teammates.

Professional:

2013: Made his Red Bulls and MLS debut on Apr. 17 against Sporting KC, when he subbed on for Tim Cahill in the 77th minute.

2010 - 2012 Joined ranks with Renaissance FC de Nhoumou, a club in Cameroon’s MTN Elite One league. Scored five goals in 18 games during the 2012 season and helped propel Renaissance to the Quarterfinals of the Cameroon Cup.

Academy/Youth:

Obekop developed in the Arsenal de Yaounde youth organization as a member of his hometown Cameroon club.

International:

2012: Obekop debuted for the Cameroon U-20 team, appearing for his nation twice during the African Cup of Nations Qualifiers

2011: Scored four goals in 15 matches in the U-17 Cup of Nations Qualifiers and finished his U-17 career with a total of 10 appearances.

2010: Made his debut with the Cameroom U-17 team and scored 12 goals in 15 matches. Voted Top Striker and finished as a silver medalist in the Nehru Cup.

2009: Voted Player of the Year and claimed the Roger Miller Cup thanks to a four-goal performance in the tournament.
