The New York Red Bulls fell to the Chicago Fire Sunday night by the final of 3-1 after returning from a three-week break in the MLS schedule. Midfielder Dax McCarty scored the lone New York goal when he placed a header into the back of the net in the 55th minute, courtesy of a Mehdi Ballouchy corner kick. (

). Despite a number of shots on goal and chances throughout the remainder of the match, New York was unable to surge back to salvage a point or more on the road at Toyota Park. The loss drops New York's record to 8-4-2, good enough for third place in the Eastern Conference.

The Red Bulls return to action Wednesday night when they head out west for an 11pm ET meeting with the Vancouver Whitecaps (Watch on MSG+).
