The New York Red Bulls and Arsenal FC held a press conference at Red Bull Arena on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s New York Cup. The match kicks off at 5:00 PM and ESPN2 will carry the game nationally.
Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke and Red Bull forward and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry opened the day’s events by fielding questions from media on hand. Among many of the questions thrown at Henry were those about his favorite memories with Arsenal.
“Wearing the shirt was a privilege for me. I’ve said I understood when I left and came back to play those seven or eight games that I played [on loan in 2011-12] how important it was to wear the shirt,” said Henry.
“For me, wearing the Arsenal shirt was the most important thing. It was unbelievable. I felt like a different man in that shirt.”
Following the Red Bull portion of the press conference, Henry and Petke met up with Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and midfielder Mikel Arteta for a photo with Red Bull arena in the background.
Wenger, Szczesny and Arteta then addressed the media on hand before Arsenal took the pitch for a late afternoon training session.  The training session was open for the first 15 minutes for media and special guests.
The Gunners engaged in some light 5v2 and juggling games before breaking off into a possession game for the early part of the session.
