PITTSBURGH, PA (July 4, 2015) – New York Red Bulls II saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, 3-0. Tyler Pasher scored and Rob Vincent grabbed a brace in Saturday’s match against Red Bulls II.

With the loss, New York Red Bulls II fall to 6-6-4 on the season. The team was on a three-match winning streak and marked their final away game in a six-match road trip.

The star of the first half for Red Bulls II was Santiago Castano. The goalkeeper was called upon early to make a charging one-on-one save early, which kept the match scoreless. New York pressed high up the field and caused some issues for Pittsburgh, but NYRB II were unable to create many serious chances.

The best chance came in the 39th minute when Derrick Etienne took a dangerous free kick for New York. The cross was whipped in and bounced around the box until Da Fonte tried a bicycle-kick, but the shot went wide.

Pittsburgh opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Vincent lowered his head and powered home a shot from distance into the top corner. Minutes before halftime, the Riverhounds nearly doubled their advantage, but Castano made an impressive double-save to prevent another goal.

The second half was all Pittsburgh. Castano was called upon once again in the 71st minute when Pittsburgh curled in a dangerous ball from a free kick towards the back-post, but Castano back-tracked and made the leaping grab.

However, minutes later Pittsburgh’s Matt Dallman sent in a cross to Pasher, who flicked on the inswinger into the side-netting to make it 2-0. Not quite 10 minutes later, Vincent scored his second goal of the game and fourth against NYRB II this season to clinch the Pittsburgh victory, 3-0.

New York Red Bulls II now head home to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium in Manhattan for their first home match since May. Their next opponent will be Harrisburg City Islanders on Sunday, July 12.
