THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT: Red Bulls Academy teams receive top national rankings

HARRISON, N.J. (January 13, 2016) ā€“ Top Drawer Soccer unveiled the latest Grande Sports TeamRank 25, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams in the U-13 to U-18 age groups nationwide, and three Red Bulls academy teams - Red Bulls U-13, U-14 and U-16 - received No. 1 rankings while the Red Bulls U-18s were ranked No. 4.



The top-ranked Red Bulls U-16s completed the fall season at the U-16 USSDA 2015 Winter Showcase in Florida a perfect 3-0-0 in three games. Led by head coach Jeff Zaun, the U-16s are 9-1-3 through 13 games and are tied in first place of the Atlantic Division. The Red Bulls share the top spot with Philadelphia Union on 30 points, but have two games in hand on the Union. Red Bulls U-16 lead the league in goals scored (42), goal differential (31) and are tied for the second-lowest goals allowed (11).



Paul Oā€™Donnellā€™s Red Bulls U-14 ended its season on Nov. 1 in North Carolina at the U-14 USSDA 2015 Showcase, a tournament in which they defeated Orlando City SC, New England Revolution and Kendall SC to finish a perfect 3-0-0. Through 12 games this season, the U-14s are 10-1-1 and ended the fall session on a four-game winning streak. Red Bulls U-13, led by head coach Phil Swenda, completed the fall season on a high, defeating Lehigh Valley United, 3-1. The young Red Bulls enter the break with an 8-2-2 record.


The No.4 ranked Red Bulls U-18s, managed by Simon Nee, finished the fall season at the U-18 USSDA 2015 Winter Showcase in Florida, where the team went 2-1-0 in three matches. Through 13 matches, Red Bulls U-18 is tied in first place of the Atlantic Division, despite having three games in hand on Players Development Academy. New York is 10-2-1 with 31 points. The U-18s boast the most potent attack in the division, with 39 goals scored, and a goal differential of 23.



The Red Bulls academy, part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, is one of the premier development programs in the United States and annually top the club national rankings. Comprised of six teams (U-12, U-13, U-14, U-16, U-18, USL PDL U-23), the players train a minimum of three times a week and play a maximum of two games under the supervision of our professional staff. The program is designed to give dedicated and talented players the training and experience needed to reach the highest levels of the game both nationally and internationally.
