The New York Red Bulls had an eventful week leading up to the season-opener against Toronto. The organization and players were active in the community building up to the first match at Red Bull Arena. Here’s your weekly update on the New York Red Bulls and their community involvement.

Red Bulls players were on hand to greet 2016 Red Members and hand out the 2016 exclusive Red Member jacket four nights last week.

Over 500 tickets were given out through Kicks for Kids for the Red Bull’s home opener. The Kicks for Kids programs assist Major League Soccer teams with reaching out to various local charities that serve at-risk and disadvantaged children. Tickets are donated to local children’s charities so that they can experience all the fun of a match at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bull’s hosted a food drive for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey during the home opener. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is the state’s largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization. Close to 1,500 pounds of food were donated and distributed to those in need.

Goalkeeper Ryan Meara visited several of the Red Bulls pub partners to deliver autographed jerseys leading up to first kick.

Daniel DePaul, a nine year old fan battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumors, was able to watch Sunday’s home opener. His mother delivered a special message to the organization:

“Thank you Red Bulls! Daniel, my 9 year old who has been battling DIPG since August 2014, had an amazing time this past Sunday at the home opener! He absolutely loved it! Everyone, especially Christina and Steve, were so warm, welcoming and accommodating to us, but especially Daniel. It made his day! We’re so fortunate to be a part of the Red Bulls family!”

SoccerZone USA continued their long time relationship with the club by specially printing Dax McCarty’s captain armband for fans.
