MATCH PREVIEW: New York Red Bulls vs. Houston Dynamo

MATCH PREVIEW: New York Red Bulls vs. Houston Dynamo -

HARRISON, N.J. (March 18, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls are set to face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, March 19 at Red Bull Arena. New York will look to earn its first win of the season against a high-flying Dynamo side that shelled in-state rival FC Dallas last weekend.

New York fell in Montreal last Saturday after yielding three second-half goals to the Impact. New York starts 0-2-0 for the first time since 2012. The Red Bulls lost consecutive matches just once in 2015, a slide that reached four games from May 24 to June 20, including a 4-2 loss at Houston on June 5.

Bradley Wright-Phillips looks to jumpstart a Red Bulls offense that has been held scoreless for two straight weeks. Wright-Phillips, New York's leading scorer over the last two seasons, has six goals in six games played against Houston, including a hat trick at Red Bull Arena in April of 2014. That match served as a springboard for BWP's record-tying 27-goal campaign, as the Englishman scored five more times over the next three matches after just one goal in the first six games of the year.

The Red Bulls are 8-0-3 all-time against Houston at home in the regular season, and have not conceded a goal in the last five meetings at Red Bull Arena, taking full points in all five contests by a combined score of 10-0.

New York did fall to the Dynamo, 2-1 at Red Bull Arena, in the second leg of a playoff series in 2013.

The Dynamo racked up five goals last weekend in the Texas Derby, including four in the first 27 minutes of play. Andrew Wenger, acquired in the offseason, led the way with a goal and two assists. Will Bruin leads the Dynamo in scoring thus far, with two goals and an assist in two games played. Bruin scored twice and added an assist in the Dynamo's win over the Red Bulls last season at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Houston will be on the road for the first time in 2016. The Dynamo went 2-10-5 on the road last season as part of an 11-14-9 record that saw them finish in eighth place in their first season as part of the Western Conference.

After Saturday, New York has an off weekend before heading to Foxborough to take on the New England Revolution on Friday, April 1 (7 p.m., TV: UniMas). The Red Bulls are next home on April 9 to host Sporting Kansas City. Tickets are available by visiting www.newyorkredbulls.com/tickets or calling 1.877.727.6223.
