ACADEMY UPDATE: Red Bulls U-13 trounces D.C. United U-13 on the road

The New York Red Bulls U-13s were the lone academy team in U.S. Soccer Development Academy action last weekend, while the U-16s kicked off Generation adidas Cup in Texas. The U-18s and U-14s had the weekend off. The Red Bulls U-12s are nearing the beginning of their season, which starts on Saturday, April 2, versus NJCSA.

Washington, D.C. (March 19, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls U-13s opened the second half of their season with a win on the road against D.C. United on a rainy afternoon, 8-0.


New York opened the scoring early and often. Hamza Shehata opened the scoring in the fifth minute, followed by a goal three minutes later from Kyle Linhares. In the 30th minute, Jayson Argueta tallied the Red Bullsā€™ third goal, thanks to an assist from Justin Weiss. Weiss went on to total one goal and two assists in the match.


Bryce Lebel, Andrew Maia, Dylan Estevez and Jason Pereira piled on the goals in a game that featured eight different goal scorers for the Red Bulls. Goalkeeper Elliot Leinweber earned the clean sheet as the Red Bulls U-13s claimed their first win of 2016.
