INJURY REPORT: Gideon Baah and Gonzalo Veron edge closer to return; probable for Friday -

HANOVER, N.J. – After a morale-boosting win on Sunday night, the good vibes continued at the team’s training facility on Wednesday afternoon.

Sidelined since the team’s 4-3 win over the Houston Dynamo on March 19, both Gideon Baah and Gonzalo Veron trained in full with the first team ahead of New York’s matchup with FC Dallas this coming Friday night.

“They’re looking really good,” head coach Jesse Marsch stated. “Both Gonzalo and Gideon are day-to-day.”

One of the Red Bulls’ marquee offseason signings ahead of the 2016 season, Baah joined the club from Finnish side HJK Helsinki, starting New York’s first three games of the season. An early standout, the 24-year-old centerback succumbed to a hamstring injury over a month ago, and has been on the mend ever since.

Veron shares a similar story, as the Designated Player also went down with a hamstring knock in his team’s win against the Dynamo. The Argentine had suffered an injury in New York’s final preseason match against the Jacksonville Armada, and appeared to aggravate the injury during the Red Bulls’ matchup with Houston.

Both players offer the potential to greatly strengthen a Red Bulls team on the rise, but Marsch preached a cautious approach when asked to commit to their return to the pitch.

“They’re a potential for Friday, but probably not from the start,” he said. “We’re trying to figure out how to use them and also be smart and cautious. We don’t want to risk re-injury.”
