HARRISON, N.J. (May 18, 2016) â€“ The New York Red Bulls returned to their winning ways on Wednesday evening against the Chicago Fire, 1-0. Mike Grella scored the game-winning goal, his team leading fourth goal of the season.


With the victory, the Red Bulls improved to 4-7-1 on the season. Against Chicago, New York is 16-26-10 all-time and 12-11-3 at home.


Aurelien Collin saved a potential Chicago goal at the end of the first half when Kennedy Igboananike found space to shoot. The forward fired from inside the penalty box and Collin slid in front to deflect away the point-blank opportunity.


The Red Bulls opened the scoring in the 58th minute on a passing sequence that began with Bradley Wright-Phillips’ back heel pass to Lloyd Sam. Sam connected with the onrushing Grella who buried his shot into the lower-right corner of the goal.


Wright-Phillips has now recorded five goals and one assist in seven games played versus Chicago.


By the end of the match, New York finished with an 83.5% passing accuracy and 64.7% of possession.


Luis Robles made his 118th consecutive start, tying Chris Klein’s MLS record. The goalkeeper made two saves in the game.


The Red Bulls head to Yankee Stadium on Saturday, May 21 for the first New York Derby of 2016 against NYCFC at 3 p.m. (TV: FOX; RADIO: Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn). New York returns home to Red Bull Arena next week on Saturday, May 28 to host Toronto FC.
