NEW YORK (May 21, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls defeated New York City FC, 7-0, to remain perfect in the New York Derby. The Red Bulls set a new club record for goals in a MLS match with two from Dax McCarty, two from Bradley Wright-Phillips, as well as markers from Alex Muyl, Gonzalo Veron and Gideon Baah.

The Red Bulls are 4-0-0 all-time against New York City FC, including a 2-0-0 record at Yankee Stadium. The Red Bulls have outscored NYC FC 10-1 in two games at Yankee Stadium.

The Red Bulls are now 5-7-1 on the season, and improve from a -6 goal differential entering the season to a +1 after tying the MLS record for largest margin of victory. The seven-goal win is level with an 8-1 LA Galaxy victory (6/4/98) and a 7-0 Chicago Fire win (8/4/01).

New York is the fourth team in the league to score seven or more goals in an MLS match.

Dax McCarty opened the scoring in the third minute, getting on the end of a Sacha Kljestan corner kick for his first goal of the season. Kjlestan and McCarty would connect again for the Red Bulls' fourth goal just after the start of the second half, giving McCarty the first two-goal game of his MLS career. Kljestan leads all of MLS with eight assists on the season.

Wright-Phillips found the back of the net twice in five minutes before the end of the first half, first heading home an offering from Mike Grella and the near post, and then connecting on a bicycle kick in stoppage time after another Grella cross was headed on by Aurelien Collin. Wright-Phillips leads New York with five goals this season, and now has six goals in four New York Derby matches.

Homegrown Player and New York City native Alex Muyl entered the match for Grella in the 52nd minute, and got the first goal of his MLS career minutes later, finding himself in space at the top of the box and receiving a pass from Bradley Wright-Phillips. Muyl is the first native of the five boroughs to score in the New York Derby.

Gonzalo Veron finished off a header in the box for the sixth, getting his first goal of the season. Gideon Baah, seeing his first MLS action after returning from injury, got the seventh, finding a loose ball in front of goal and poking it home. It was Baah's first career MLS goal.

Luis Robles earned his second consecutive clean sheet in the match, making two saves. Robles broke another MLS record on the day, surpassing Chris Klein's record with his 119th consecutive regular season start.

New York is back in action next weekend, for a rematch of the season opener against Toronto FC. Kickoff at Red Bull Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m., with coverage on MSG, MSG GO, and Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.
