INJURY REPORT: Updates on Chris Duvall and Damien Perrinelle

HANOVER, N.J. – Following an intense stretch of games, head coach Jesse Marsch is taking precautions with his team as they get set for their final match before a lengthy break.

On the heels of completing their third game in nine days, the Red Bulls took advantage of a lighter training session on Wednesday in order to prepare for their matchup with Toronto FC on Saturday night.

“We took today almost as a regen day just to make sure that, after having a week with three games, we manage everything physically,” Marsch said. “It’s getting hotter, so we need to make sure that in all ways we’re ready to push on Saturday.”

On the injury front, defender Chris Duvall sat out of Wednesday’s training session in order to get treatment for an apparent hamstring injury suffered on Tuesday.

“We’re trying to monitor his status and figure out where he’ll be at,” Marsch continued. “He’s got a little bit of a hamstring tweak, but we don’t know the extent of it right now. We’re hopeful for the weekend, but if not, we have the break. We don’t think it’s that extreme.”

If Duvall is unable to go, defender Gideon Baah—who made a goal-scoring return in New York’s 7-0 win on Saturday—could be an option to step into the starting XI.

Still on the mend, defender Damien Perrinelle continues his lengthy road to recovery from an ACL injury suffered in last year’s playoff clash with D.C. United. The Frenchman, however, is nearing a return to Hanover, as his progress looks promising.

“Damien is at Clairefontaine,” Marsch added. “He’s been there for about a month, working on the rehab there. This week he’s training with an academy team there, so when he gets back, he’ll be pretty much ready to go and start training.”
