BRONX, N.Y. (July 3, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls fell to New York City FC, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium, marking the first time the Red Bulls lost to NYC FC in five meetings.

New York is now 4-1-0 against NYC FC, and 2-1-0 at Yankee Stadium, since NYC FC joined Major League Soccer in 2015. It was the first time the Red Bulls allowed more than one goal to NYC FC.

The Red Bulls are now 7-9-2 on the season and sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

New York City FC got the first in the eighth minute, with Jack Harrison finding a loose ball at the back post and firing a shot by Luis Robles. David Villa got the second, putting home a cross from Harrison in the 66th minute to finish off a NYC counter attack.

The match marked the end of a four-game road swing for the Red Bulls over the last two weeks. New York has played away at Real Salt Lake, Columbus and Philadelphia (U.S. Open Cup) in the last 12 days.

The two New York clubs will meet once more in 2016, on Sunday, July 24 at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bulls return home this week for two matches, first for a friendly against Liga MX side Club America on Wednesday night, and then an MLS contest against reigning MLS Cup Champions the Portland Timbers on Sunday, July 10.
