USL UPDATE: Road Excellence, Charlotte revenge, Brandon Allen heroics

New York Red Bulls II picked up another win on the road this weekend in Montreal, Canada, defeating FC Montreal, 4-2, thanks to a Brandon Allen hat trick.

Red Bulls II hits the road again for a matchup with the Charlotte Independence on Saturday July 16 at 7 p.m. ET. (WATCH: NewYorkRedBulls.com/Live).


Road domination continues

After beating FC Montreal for the second time this season, NYRB II remains undefeated on the road. New York holds a record of 6-0-1 away from home with their only tie coming on June 19 to Orlando City B.


Rookie Homegrown Player Brandon Allen scored twice in the first 24 minutes to give New York a 2-0 advantage. Allen completed his hat trick in the 70th minute after receiving a pass from Dan Metzger. Junior Flemmings also got on the score sheet just minutes into the second half.


Red Bulls II has allowed just five goals on the road so far this season. NYRB II has conceded the least amount of goals in the league with 10.


Rematch against Charlotte

Red Bulls II will hop back on the road this weekend and travel to North Carolina to face the Charlotte Independence. This is the second of a three game road trip for New York.


Charlotte enters the match as the only team to have beaten New York this season. The clubs met at Red Bull Arena on May 1, and NYRB II has not lost since. The win against FC Montreal extends Red Bulls II’s unbeaten streak to 10 games. New York is 7-0-3 during its current run.


Back on May 1, the Independence scored two first half goals and kept New York out of the net to record a 2-0 victory. Enzo Martinez opened the scoring for Charlotte in the 13th minute and Patrick Slogic added another in the 34th. Goalkeeper Cody Mizell grabbed the shutout for Charlotte.


Brandon Allen named USL Player of the Week

New York Red Bulls II forward Brandon Allen has been named the Week 16 USL Player of the Week for his performance against FC Montreal.

Allen, a native of Old Bridge, N.J. found the back of the net three times in the 4-2 victory. Allen opened the scoring in the 18th minute from the penalty spot and then grabbed his second in the 24th. Allen completed his hat trick in the 70th minute to bring his season total to eight. He has also added two assists on the campaign.


After four years at Georgetown University, Allen became the all-time leading scorer in school history. He signed as a Homegrown Player for the New York Red Bulls on December 21.
