New York Red Bulls II and Cheikh M’Baye Mutually Agree to Part Ways

HARRISON, N.J. (July 15, 2016) – New York Red Bulls II and Cheikh M’Baye have mutually agreed to terminate the defender’s contract, the club announced today.


M’Baye, a native of Saint-Louis, Senegal, signed with NYRB II on April 8, 2016, after training with the first team and Red Bulls II as a trialist during preseason.


The center back spent the 2015 season with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in France Ligue 1. M’Baye played seven reserve matches and did not make an appearance for the first team. The 20-year-old is a product of Diambars FC football academy in Saly, Senegal, and is a Senegalese U-20 international.


M’Baye played five games with NYRB II, including one start, and totaled 180 minutes this season.
