SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 26, 2016) - The Mexican Under-20 team earned a 2-0 victory over a collection of MLS Homegrowns at Avaya Stadium in the third annual Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game.


Luis Marquez scored twice in the final 12 minutes of the first half to help Mexico become the first team to win a Homegrown Game in regulation.


New York had two players see action in the game as both Tyler Adams and Derrick Etienne, Jr. both entered in the 62nd minute. Adams played right back while Etienne was used in the midfield.


Etienne finished with two shots, including a header on goal that was saved.


Mexico was in complete control and created more chances throughout the match. In the 33rd minute, Marquez broke into the left side and was brought down by Coy Craft for a penalty that Marquez converted himself.


Marquez would then score on a free kick from the right-hand side of the field that went untouched in the box before bouncing in at the far post right before halftime.
