After a goal and two assists last Friday, Sacha Kljestan earned a spot in the Starting XI for the U.S. Men’s National Team on Wednesday night against Trinidad & Tobago. With a win, the U.S. wrapped up the top spot in their group for the hexagonal phase of World Cup Qualifying.
Kljestan scored the first goal, the eventual game-winner, and was instrumental in the third and fourth goals before being subbed off in the 75th minute. Kljestan opened the scoring just before half time, causing a turnover in the Trinidad & Tobago penalty area and putting home the loose ball.
Wait a minute… we’ve seen this before recently... but, where?
Though he wasn’t credited with an assist, Kljestan played youngster Cristian Pulisic down the wing, putting him in good position to flash in a low cross for a Jozy Altidore goal.
Kljestan then set up Altidore down the same flank, who put in a similar cross that was eventually finished by Paul Arriola.
OH, this happened, too.
And a good time was had by all.
Now get back to Red Bull Arena, Sacha. You’ve got to do the same thing to D.C. this Sunday.
