  • Montreal’s Hernan Bernardello, Ignatio Piatti, and New York’s Gonzalo Veron all played in Argentina from 2012-2013.
  • Patrice Bernier of the Montreal Impact used to play in Germany’s Bundesliga, where the New York Red Bulls’ sister club RB Leipzig plays. Omer Damari is the first player to play for all three Red Bulls soccer clubs, as he is owned by Leipzig and has been loaned to both RB Salzburg and now the New York Red Bulls.
  • Hassoun Camara and Wandrille Lefevre of the Impact are natives of France, where New York’s Aurelien Collin and Damien Perrinelle are also from.  While Collin and Lefevre never played professionally in France, Perrinelle played from 2004-2014 and Camara played there from 2003-2010.
  • New York’s Sacha Kljestan and Montreal’s Laurent Ciman both played professional soccer from 2010 to 2015 in Belgium.
  • Felipe, who currently plays for the Red Bulls, used to play for Montreal from 2012 to 2014.  He was then traded to the Red Bulls, in a trade that helped land Sacha Kljestan, and reunited Felipe with his former manager, Jesse Marsch, who was the Impact’s first MLS manager in 2012. Ambroise Oyongo played 13 games for the Red Bulls in 2014 before being traded from the Red Bulls to the Impact in the same trade.
  • Montreal’s Didier Drogba is most famous for his excellent play with Chelsea in the English Premier League.  Former New York Red Bull Matt Miazga recently signed a 4.5-year deal with the club.
  • Montreal’s Dominic Oduro played three games with the New York Red Bulls in 2009, before he was traded to the Houston Dynamo
