Red Bulls clinch playoff spot, sit on top of Eastern Conference

The New York Red Bulls started the season 1-6. With three games remaining, they have clinched a spot in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs and currently sit atop the Eastern Conference.

Tied in points with Toronto F.C. and New York City FC, New York’s goal differential provides the tiebreaker. The Red Bulls' goal differential is +13, while Toronto's is +12 and New York City FC's is +2.

The Red Bulls' 1-0 win over Montreal Impact on Saturday night secured a playoff spot for the Red Bulls, Toronto FC and New York City FC.

After just three points through the first seven games, New York has earned 45 points over their last 24 games to vault them into first place.


The Red Bulls have never lost or tied with Montreal at Red Bull Arena, posting a 7-0-0 record in the games played at home.
